How can hospitals lock shared clinical workstations to the clinical system?
XPC runs on the Windows workstations already deployed on wards and in clinics. Each machine boots to a branded screen offering only the published clinical desktop or application. Windows stays in place, so smart card readers, label printers, imaging peripherals, endpoint security agents and existing device management continue to operate unchanged.

Steps to deploy
Log in to the XPC Cloud Portal, install the MSI, enable XPC Mode.
Clinical peripherals keep their Windows drivers
Card readers, label printers, dictation devices and imaging peripherals in healthcare environments are certified against Windows. Because XPC does not replace the operating system, none of that certification work is repeated.
Security and audit tooling is unaffected
Endpoint protection, patching, device compliance and reporting keep running on the Windows endpoint. XPC changes the user-facing shell, not the security posture your organisation already governs.

Will smart card readers and label printers still work?

Yes. XPC Mode is enabled per PC from the XPC Cloud Portal, so a pilot on one ward or clinic is straightforward and reversible.
