Getting a focused endpoint back to a full desktop
XPC Mode is reversible from the portal, and your existing support tooling still reaches the machine.
The short answer
How do you get back into Windows on a PC running XPC?
Disable XPC Mode for that PC in the XPC Cloud Portal and it returns to a standard Windows desktop. Because Windows continues to run underneath XPC, your existing RMM and remote support tooling can also reach the machine at any time, so a locked-down endpoint never becomes an unreachable one.
Reversible by design
Nothing about enabling XPC Mode is destructive. The Windows installation, profiles, joins and agents are unchanged, so returning a machine to a full desktop is a configuration change rather than a rebuild.
Support access is unaffected
Remote support, RMM, patching and monitoring agents continue to run on the Windows endpoint. This is one of the practical differences between XPC and replacing the endpoint operating system.
- Disable XPC Mode centrally to restore the desktop
- RMM and remote support reach the PC as normal
- No local rebuild or reimage required
- Uninstall through standard software management if needed
